Whale

I created this whale sketch for a school project while we were studying the New England States for KONOS with our co-op. We were supposed to be watercoloring, but I like to sketch better. I like this one better than the watercolored drawing I did. I looked at a picture of a humpback whale in the Barnes & Noble "Under the Sea" Discoveries book to draw it.

I like whales even though they aren't my favorite animal. I had a dream once that I was riding a whale in a scuba suit. I love the part in Nemo where the krill tell Marlin and Dory to "swim away!" because the whale is coming. Interestingly, I found out during this study that Dolphins are a type of whale, too. I like Dolphins better. They seem to be more interesting. I saw Shamu at Sea World when I was younger and he was as smart as a Dolphin. I was sad to hear that he hurt his trainer.

One of the neatest whale sites on the net is Whalesounds.com - where you can listen to whale noises. There's also a whale poetry contest going on at Save the Whales. I think I might submit a poem (my mom wants me to).
